Overview

Learning about the school system is important, but it rarely feels urgent, right? Drawings create a small but useful reason for participants to learn this stuff NOW, rather than someday-when-I-get-around-to-it.

Drawings for the 2017-18 school year

These drawings are sponsored by the California State PTA, with support from Full Circle Fund via the Stuart Foundation.

The rules below apply to drawings for the following dates:

  • November 15, 2017
  • May 10, 2018

  1. The purpose of these drawings is:
    1. to encourage participation in and completion of the Ed100 course,
    2. to support parent leaders' efforts to learn about education issues, and
    3. to encourage formation of engaged communities of course participants throughout California.
  2. There is no fee and no purchase necessary to enter.
  3. Ten prize grants will be awarded in all in these two drawings. In each drawing the following will be awarded:
    1. One "school PTA grand prize" grant of $1,000
    2. Four "school PTA prize" grants of $250 each
  4. The closing dates to earn tickets for these drawings will be as listed above.
  5. To enter a drawing for the benefit of your school's PTA:
    1. Join Ed100.org. Visit Ed100.org and create your personal user account (limit: one account per person). You must include your email address.
    2. Select your school in your profile. In your account profile on Ed100.org, select one listed California school with which you are primarily associated as a parent/guardian, student, teacher, administrator, staff member or community member (Your School).
    3. Complete lessons on Ed100. Each lesson of Ed100 that you complete earns you a "ticket" in the next drawing. If a review question is offered for the lesson, you must answer it correctly to earn the ticket.
  6. Bonus Tickets. You may earn "bonus tickets", increasing your chances of winning a drawing for the benefit of your PTA, as follows:
    1. Complete each chapter. Two bonus tickets are awarded when you complete all of the lessons in a chapter. (The average chapter contains about 10 lessons.)
    2. Complete the course. Twenty bonus tickets will be awarded when you complete all of the lessons in the course (about 100)
    3. Participate in incentive programs. Additional ways to earn bonus tickets may be periodically announced through the Ed100 site, social media or email. For example:
      1. Limited-time incentives may be offered to encourage participants to invite others to join and/or use Ed100.
      2. Ticket incentives may be attached to reading and completing specific blog posts.
  7. Eligibility. Each drawing selects only from tickets earned after the last drawing of the prior school year. Tickets you earn are eligible to win only if the following conditions are met:
    1. You must be associated with a California school. Select your school in your profile.
    2. Your school must have at least two participants to win. At least two people associated with your school must be signed up for Ed100.
    3. Best five participants at a school. There is no limit to the number of participants that may sign up from a school, but only tickets earned by the top five ticket earners in the current school year will be included in the drawing. (The intent of this eligibility rule is to give many school communities an opportunity to win, including small schools. This rule is also intended to avoid creating an incentive to "flood" the drawing with insincere entries.)
    4. No duplicate winners. No school's PTA shall be eligible to win more than one prize per school year.
    5. Order of prizes. Drawings shall be conducted in descending order by the value of the prize offered. The drawing for the largest prize will be held first.
    6. PTA affiliation. Winning prizes will be awarded to the PTA-affiliated 501(c)(3) associated with the winning school. To receive the prize, the school selected in the drawing must have a PTA unit in good standing.
  8. Sponsor/operator. This drawing is sponsored and operated by Full Circle Fund, a non-profit 501c3 organization. PTA units associated with employees and board members of Full Circle Fund and their family members are not eligible to win the drawing.
  9. Additional details:
    1. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
    2. The California State PTA (the Promoter) reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Entrants will be notified of changes to the competition as soon as possible by the promoter.
    3. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
    4. The prizes are not transferable.
    5. Ed100 participants at the school associated with a winning entry will be notified by email within 7 days of the drawing date. The Promoter will also attempt to contact the president of the PTA unit associated with the winning school.
      1. To accept the prize, the PTA unit president must agree to participate in publicity material, including their name and image. If the PTA unit does not accept the prize within 14 days, the promoter reserves the right to pick a replacement winner.
      2. Ed100 participants associated with the winning PTA unit are not required to participate in publicity materials as a condition of entry in the drawing.
    6. The Promoter’s decision in all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    7. By using Ed100.org, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
    8. The drawing and these terms and conditions will be governed by California law.
    9. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other Social Network. Information you provide will be used in conjunction with the Privacy Statement.
