Ed100 helps YOU improve our public schools.
Ed100 is a free, self-paced online course that prepares you to make a difference in your school or school district. California's education system is complex and changing fast. Whether you are a parent, a teacher, or a community member, Ed100 helps you learn what you need to know to be informed, credible and ready for action. Each lesson takes about 5 minutes, in English or in Spanish.
Founded in 2011 by Jeff Camp, Ed100 was born out of Jeff's desire to better understand how California's education system worked as his own children entered school. Faced with the complexity of the system, Jeff began piecing together information from multiple sources. Realizing that others could benefit from the knowledge he was accumulating, he started writing. What began as a personal effort grew into a public, free, online resource designed to help everyone in California better understand the education system.
When Carol Kocivar, the former President of the California State PTA, joined the effort, Ed100’s weekly blog posts flourished. Together, they have created a resource that has educated thousands of participants throughout the state.
The California education system is authentically complex and constantly changing —making it hard for most people to understand, let alone navigate. Pervasive jargon makes the knowledge gap even worse, preventing parents, teachers, and community leaders from advocating effectively for the changes they wish to see in schools and across the state. By providing accessible, up-to-date, and accurate information, Ed100 empowers leaders to make informed decisions and drive positive change in education.
Since its inception, Ed100 has made significant strides in improving education awareness and engagement in California:
