The heart of improvement is to do more of what works, less of what does not… and to know the difference.
This chapter of Ed100 explores the broad meaning of success in education. For students, success can be individual, with grades and scores marking the way. But how do you measure the success of a whole system? For society to work effectively, each school must work effectively.
Data systems, if well-designed and connected, make it possible to weave "outcome" information for individual students into diagnostic indicators of success or failure. California has long lagged in this work, with predictable gaps.
At the end of each lesson, a one-question quiz reinforces what you’re learning. Pass it to advance toward your certificate as an Ed100 Graduate.
