Carol, Selisa and I look forward to meeting you at the California State PTA convention May 3-5, 2024 in Ontario!
Ed100 and PTA have a lot in common. We work to develop informed and active leaders in school communities. We rely deeply on active and engaged volunteers. Many state PTA leaders are Ed100 graduates, including Shereen Walter, the current president of the California State PTA, and of course Carol Kocivar. Many other PTA leaders have contributed guest posts on the Ed100 blog, including Heather Ippolito, President-Elect of the California State PTA, who wrote about Family Engagement.
I urge you to make the trip to Ontario. Bring friends and students. I have attended more than ten of these conferences. The PTA leaders run a terrific event, packed with training and workshops that can help you find new ways to contribute your voice with confidence for the benefit of your school, your community and beyond.
Maybe you'll come away with new insights to help your local PTA. Maybe you'll emerge connected to in unexpected ways. Maybe you'll find more of "your people" — the kind who want to change the world just a little, in the company of other good people. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if you come home energized.
It's easy to register for Convention. (Insiders treat it as a proper noun, sans article.) If you're not already a member of a PTA, don't worry. You can join one easily online. My kids are out of school, so I have chosen to join PTA as an individual member through the Golden State PTA. The registration process makes it fairly easy to donate, too.
Please come and visit the Ed100 team to say hello, ask a question, or take a selfie with us. We'll be in the "Allied Agency" alley of the exhibitor booths. All three of us plan to be there, in person, and we want to meet you! We will have some giveaways (while they last!), including chances for extra bonus entries to win the Ed100 Drawing and get $1,000 for your PTA unit, council, or district.
