“Now more than ever”

Governor Newsom was the opening speaker of the 2022 Ed100 Academy for Student Leaders. He spoke about how he became involved in government service and why he believes it is now more important than ever for students to bring their abundant moral authority to address a moment of peril.

“The most important office is the office of citizen,” the Governor said. He challenged students to stand up for what’s right and true, and to translate their passion to action.

He encouraged students to be civically engaged, and urged them not to get hung up on securing a title before starting their journey. “You don’t have to be something to do something,” he said.
