Learn about education issues and win for your school or group!

California school communities need well-informed voices. The mission of Ed100 is to help anyone learn what they need to know to be part of the conversations that matter. To encourage school communities to try Ed100 as part of their strategy for engaging parents, educators and student leaders, Ed100 periodically holds a drawing. The drawing adds a playful angle: by learning about California's education system you can win MONEY for your PTA (or another nonprofit organization associated with your school).

Learn. Pass quizzes. Win $1,000 for your school.

Here's how it works. Each lesson in Ed100 concludes with a single quiz question. Whenever you pass a quiz, you earn a ticket, which shows up on the Ed100 Leaderboard. Each ticket you earn is also an entry to win for your PTA or other non-profit education organization.

The next drawing is coming up on May 21, 2024. See rules for details. No purchase is offered or required. (See past winners.)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the drawings on Ed100.org?
These drawings create urgency. They encourage parent leaders and student leaders to learn more about education issues and ideas now. Because it takes two to win, the drawings also provide school organizations with a useful incentive to form learning groups.

How much can I win?
You, personally, can’t win anything in these drawings. Zero. But you could help your PTA or other school organization win.

Whenever you complete a lesson on Ed100, you earn a ticket in the next drawing.

Whoa, that’s awesome! Who funds these drawings?
The drawings are supported by donations. Full Circle Fund, a 501c3 non-profit organization, serves as Ed100's fiscal sponsor. (Ed100 originated as a volunteer project by members of Full Circle Fund.)

How much do tickets cost in the drawings?
Nothing. It’s FREE to enter, and Ed100 is FREE to use.

How do I enter? How do I get tickets?
Sign up at Ed100.org. Earn lesson tickets by completing lessons in Ed100.org. You can also earn "bonus tickets," for example by completing all the lessons in a chapter.

Do I have to finish the whole course to win for my school?
No. Each quiz you pass earns a ticket, even if you don't finish the course. (But when you DO graduate, you earn a big batch of extra bonus tickets!)

Is my school eligible to win?

Important: It takes TWO to win, so recruit a friend!
The rules of the drawing include an important requirement: at least two people from your school must sign up and take at least one quiz to be eligible to win. The purpose of this requirement is to promote discussion, which takes at least two! See full rules.

How does the Leaderboard work?
The Leaderboard shows the tickets that have been earned by passing quizzes or by earning bonuses. The "current" view of the Leaderboard shows only the tickets you have earned in the current school year, reflecting the way that the drawings work. Each school year is a level playing field! All schools start the year with zero current tickets. Quizzes are all re-opened, so that you can review the lessons and earn additional, new tickets. Even Ed100 graduates can earn new lesson tickets this way. (You can only earn bonuses once.)

The "All Time" view of the Leaderboard shows all tickets earned since the original launch of Ed100.

My school's new to Ed100. Do we have a chance of winning?
Yes. Each drawing selects ONLY from tickets earned in the current school year. (Tickets earned in the summer, after the final drawing of a school year, count toward the school year ahead.)

How do I improve the chances that my school will win?
Here are ways to earn more tickets:

  1. Complete more lessons on Ed100. Each lesson you complete earns a "lesson" ticket. Whenever you finish all the lessons in a chapter you earn bonus tickets.
  2. Invite others from your school or group to sign up. Lessons that they complete earn tickets in the drawing, too!
  3. Create an online discussion group using our Ed100 discussion guides.
  4. Keep at it! The drawing box resets each school year. You can earn more tickets by reviewing and re-taking the quizzes even after you graduate from the course.

Can teachers, administrators, students and community members join, too?
YES, definitely. Use Ed100 to build your whole school community.

To all people that is landing here , please try to stay here the most possible, all are going to learn something that the CDE, counties or districts never want to tell you, because they don't have the time or the budget or simply they don't have any idea.

This is the second time I have completed the Ed100 lessons, and as I went through this most recent time I absorbed so much more. What an amazing resource for anyone and everyone wanting to gain a deeper knowledge about California's public school system. Thank you!

As an educator, this is my second time completing the Ed100 lessons. This site is extremely valuable, not just for parents, but for educators as well. I absolutely love all the links provided to help our PTSA become as strong as possible. As a part of our PTA Board, I am strongly recommending that all our officers participate in the Ed100 lessons and have even included a link on our newly made PTSA website so that all our parents are also able to become well informed of the California School System. As Helen Keller stated, "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." Thank you for making this site accessible to all the players in the California School System.

Thank you. Your comment arrived at a really good time. You mention including "all the players in the California school system". Our new aspiration is to help student leaders join as effective "players" too. Ed100 can help them learn what they need to know to be credible and influential voices in their school, in their district, and in the system. We hope the Ed100 summer academy for California Student Leaders will be a big stride in that direction.

Thank you for such a resourceful site. I have referred to it so many times in the last 2 months as our district is up for a Parcel Tax vote in 2 weeks!

Ed100 was very informative and I've learned a lot. Thank you for this resource. It appears that I've completed all the lessons. Can I continue to earn points for my school as new articles come out/are sent via email?

Our pleasure, Toby! Congratulations on becoming an Ed100 graduate. Your tickets accumulate when you answer quizzes correctly. I encourage you to share Ed100 with your community and encourage them to graduate as well. That way, your school's ticket count will grow exponentially, along with your informed community. Basically, a classic win/win :)

Could you please let me know the exact date that we roll over to a new school year? Like, did it happen after the end of last school year (best!) or will it be happening soon before the beginning of the new school year? (For our own PTA incentive purposes.)

I have just recently joined Ed100.org and I have been learning a lot, and I am sharing the information with the School's PTA members to have more educated parents who can help their students.
I just would like to know who do I need to contact to report some of the links which are not working anymore when click on them to find extra information on topics! Thanks a lot!

Thanks, Shamrock 27 -- Please let us know about any broken links by leaving a comment like this one on the page where you find it. Curating web content is like teaching puppies to sit.

I am so excited as a parent for my son's school having a chance to win $1000 from ED100. The PTSA has designated monies for senior scholarships and if we win this will increase the much needed money for college expense of the scholarship winners.

As a property owner in California it was interesting to learn of how property taxes are allocated to the local school district and how monies are allocated to different school based programs and all the limitations there are for use of the funding.

Question / Comment for those earning Ed100 tickets: After speaking with several parents, I don't think the tickets connect if you use the LOGIN by FB or Google buttons. We're advising our PTA members to create an Ed100 account and specifically add their name and school name. Let me know if you have any info or advice. Thanks!
user avatar
Jeff Camp - Founder December 2, 2017 at 5:50 pm
Thanks, Iris -- the FB/Google login is a very good way to go. Nice and secure, and it adds your face to your profile automatically. When tickets look like they aren't being added there can be a few things going on, for example: 1) the server needs some time to catch up; 2) your comment might be awaiting approval; 3) you might have hit your bonus ticket limit (we cap the number of bonus tix you can earn through comments and such to avoid creating incentives for the wrong things. MOSTLY we want to encourage folks to take the lessons and pass the quizzes!)
